JACOB GUBI OLSEN

The Danish design house GUBI headed by Jacob Gubi Olsen - eldest son of the founders Lisbeth and Gubi Olsen. Innovation, functionality, quality and aesthetics has since 1967 been the driving force in the development of GUBI's furniture collection. GUBI has garnered international awards and accolades for its design example. Gubi Chair 1 and Chair GUBI second Museum of Modern Art in New York has selected Gubi Chair 1 for inclusion in its permanent collection. GUBI based in a warehouse of 2000 m2 in the Copenhagen Freeport.

GUBI also produces the classic Bestlite lamps. Robert Dudley Best drew the first sketches to Bestlite as a design student in Paris and Düsseldorf. The lamp was one of the first Bauhaus design in England and it was hard to find a producer. So it was a small family firm Best & Lloyd which began production in 1930.

When the lamp was highlighted in the renowned journal Architects'Journal, the world got their eyes to the light. The final breakthrough came when Winston Churchill used it on his desk in the Ministry of Defence on Whitehall.
Today Bestlite lamp a classic design icon.
