CHARLES AND RAY EAMES
Charles and Ray Eames, the American design couples have had great importance for modern design and furniture making. Throughout the 40s, 50s and 60s, they created buildings, films, exhibitions, books and some of the world's most famous furniture classics - including Lounge Chair and La Chaise.
They were first hand witnesses to historical events like the Depression and second World War, and they cooperated with government and industry with the goal to modernize postwar America. Eames couple has since been named the most influential designers of the 20th Century of the World Design Congress.
Among Eames couple's greatest gifts was their curiosity and vision. They were consistently first to the use of new materials and revolutionized the concept of modern furniture design with fiberglass, molded plywood and innovative concept solutions.
