Poul Kjaerholm was originally educated as a cabinetmaker and has received instruction from, amongst others, Hans J. Wegner and the world famous architect, Jorn Utzon. He finished his education as a cabinetmaker in 1949. Later he attended The Royal Danish Academy of Art, where he became a professor. Poul Kjaerholm has held a large number of exhibitions, both in Denmark and abroad. He has also been awarded several distinctions for his quality designs. During his career Kjaerholm clearly became inspired by more than one foreign architect and designer. Especially the innovative American designers Charles and Ray Eames and the German überarchitect Mies van der Rohe were great sources of inspiration.
